Gothic Fiction is simply a combination of two elements art and horror which is highlighted in the form of literature. In another sense it is a romantic presentation of gothic culture where the reader gets shifted to the supernatural region from the existing original world. The supernatural region is confronted with death and destruction all around.

Gothic fiction is sometimes called as gothic novel where it symbolizes a stream of romance or fiction which evolved in around eighteenth but gained popularity during the twentieth century. This time was kind of romantic revolution or movement in the field of gothic art.

Generally the theme was anti-catholic. Some of the novels dealing with gothic fiction emphasize on one theme. This theme dealt with the women discovering their husbands as strangers after getting married. This meant to show that there was no love, attraction, fear or repulsion going on. This was often considered as Gothic romance or Modern Gothic. Most of the novels published during the period often had young wives almost fighting for love of their old rich husbands. It was a kind of competition with their former wives. Ace books published all such novels which became popular during the 18^th century, the age of Gothic fiction.

The goth subculture is a contemporary subculture found in many European countries. It began in the United Kingdom during the early 1980s in the gothic rock scene, an offshoot of the post-punk genre. The goth subculture has survived much longer than others of the same era, and has continued to diversify. Its imagery and cultural proclivities indicate influences from nineteenth century Gothic Literature along with horror movies and to a lesser extent the BDSM culture. BDSM is a complex acronym derived from the terms bondage and discipline, dominance and submission.

The goth subculture has associated tastes in music, aesthetics, and fashion, whether or not all individuals who share those tastes are in fact members of the goth subculture. Gothic music encompasses a number of different styles. Common to all is a tendency towards a lugubrious, mystical sound and outlook. Styles of dress within the subculture range from deathrock, punk, androgynous, Victorian, some Renaissance and Medieval style attire, or combinations of the above, most often with black attire, makeup and hair.

William IV of the United Kingdom

Born in the early hours of 21st August 1765 at the Buckingham House, William IV was the third child and son of King George III and Queen Charlotte. George and Frederick, the two elder brothers were to inherit the British Crown. However, William IV was known for his immaculate dressings. He spend majority of his life at Richmond and Kew. He was educated by private tutors and at an early age of 13 he joined the Royal Navy as a midshipman. He was a part of the Battle of Cape St. Vincent in 1780. His experiences in the navy seem to have been little different than those of other sailors, doing his share of the cooking. He got arrested with his shipmates after a drunken brawl on Gibraltar, however hastily released when his identity became known. William IV served in New York during the American War of Independence.

Some what driven by modern fashion, William IV became a Lieutenant in 1785 and Captain of HMS Pegasus the following year. In late 1786, he was stationed in the West Indies under Horatio Nelson. In a mutual admiration for William IV, Horatio wrote of William, “In his professional line, he is superior to two-thirds, I am sure, of the existing naval list; and in attention to orders, and respect to his superior officer, and I hardly know his equal.” The two were great friends, and dined together almost nightly. At Nelson’s wedding, the prince William IV insisted on giving the bride away. He was given command of the frigate HMS Andromeda in 1788, and was promoted to Rear-Admiral in command of HMS Valiant the following year.

William sought to be made a Duke like his elder brothers, and to receive a similar Parliamentary grant, but his father was reluctant. To put pressure on him, William threatened to run for the House of Commons for the constituency of Totnes in Devon. Appalled at the prospect of his son making his case to the voters, George III created him Duke of Clarence and St Andrews and Earl of Munster on 16 May 1789.

Cowboy boots refer to a specific style of riding boot, historically worn by cowboys. They have a high heel, rounded to pointed toe, high shaft, and, traditionally, no lacing. Cowboy boots are normally made from cowhide leather but are also sometimes made from “exotic” skins such as alligator, snake, ostrich, lizard, eel, elephant, sting ray, elk, buffalo, and the like.

There are two basic styles of cowboy boots, western (or classic), and roper. The western style is distinguished by a tall boot shaft, going to at least mid-calf, with an angled “cowboy” heel, usually over one inch high. A slightly lower, still angled, “walking” heel is also common. Although western boots can be customized with a wide variety of toe shapes, the classic design is a narrowed, usually pointed, toe.

A newer design, the “roper” style, has a short boot shaft that stops above the ankle but before the middle of the calf, with a very low and squared-off “roper” heel, shaped to the sole of the boot, usually less than one inch high. Roper boots are usually made with rounded toes, but, correlating with style changes in street-wear, styles with a squared toe are seen.
